A solid core O-ring has excellent elasticity and is designed to have a good compression set. It offers great resistance to both extreme heat and cold.
When the need for elasticity is more extreme, it is better to have no core at all! The compression set is compromised with a hollow core, but a hollow core O-ring will outperform solid core O-rings for more fragile applications.
