Square rings and rubber washers are able to be used in static applications where high sealing force is required or when the sealing area is too thin to accommodate any other seal.
Rubber square rings are available in all materials and durometers, however the most readily available is an NBR Buna N-70 Duro O-ring, which is used for general purposes and comes in USA standard sizes.
