NCS Certified as a Veteran-Friendly Business Enterprise

We are pleased to announce that North Coast Seal (NCS) has completed the certification process for the State of Ohio’s Veteran-Friendly Business Enterprise (VBE) procurement program. This designation recognizes NCS as a VBE and gives preference to NCS—along with other VBE-certified companies—in competition for state contracts. 

Tom Sasura, President and Chief Executive Officer of NCS, is a veteran, having served in the United States Navy and the Ohio Army National Guard.

“We are very proud to serve our families, customers, and communities,” said Tom. “This certification is an extension of my history in the military followed through into the business world, and it is shared by our entire staff. We will continue to serve all with honor, courage, and commitment.”

To meet the requirements for this certification, NCS needed to meet one or more of the following criteria set by the State of Ohio:

• At least ten percent of its employees are veterans or on active service;
• At least fifty-one percent of the applicant business is owned by veterans or persons on active service;
• If the applicant business is a corporation fifty-one percent of which is not owned by veterans or persons on active service, at least fifty-one percent of the board of directors are veterans or persons on active service; or
• The business is certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business or a Veteran-Owned Small Business and the owner(s) of the business meets the definition of veteran as defined in Rule 123:5-1-16 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
