The Benefits of Perfluoroelastomers
Resistance to High Temperatures and Chemicals
Perfluoroelastomers, as we noted, offer high chemical resistance but they also provide decent resistance to both cold and hot temperatures. The material can seal at temperatures as low as 0°F to -15°F (-18°C to -26°C) and as high as 450°F to 600°F (232°C to 316°C). They also offer resistance to the following:
- Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons
- Chlorinated hydrocarbons
- Polar solvents
- Inorganic and organic acids
The material is not compatible with alkali metals and should not be used in medical applications.
