Acoustical Barriers and Thermal Insulators

Railcar Noise and Temperature Control Solutions

FST-Rated Materials for Mass Transit

The mass transit industry demands acoustical barriers and thermal insulators for railcars that will block sound transmissions and provide low frequency noise reduction. North Coast Seal provides a variety of solutions for high-temperature environments that will improve both noise and temperature control. Our solid silicone rubber is specifically constructed with this in mind. We also offer sponges and foams—all rated for FST (flame, smoke, and toxicity) requirements.

Meet All FST Requirements

Extruded and Custom Die Cut or Slit Materials

We serve the railcar industry with a variety of materials for sound deadening, noise reduction, and temperature control.

  • The Bisco® HT-800 Series is a silicone sponge that offers the sealing capabilities of traditional rubber sponge with the versatility and lightness of foam.
  • Armaflex® AP & AP/SA is flexible elastomeric insulation made of synthetic rubber with a closed-cell structure. This makes it better able to withstand cracks and breakage and a stronger thermal insulator.
  • SCE 41 Neoprene Closed Cell Sponge is a soft polymer made of neoprene, EPDM, and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) that offers excellent chemical resistance.

Durable Synthetic Rubber Materials

Tested to Rigorous Mass Transit Industry Standards

North Coast Seal understands that all mass transit system components—including acoustical barriers and thermal insulators—must adhere to the strictest standards for low flame, smoke, and toxicity spread. Our synthetic rubber materials, including neoprene, EPDM, and silicone, are stringently tested to meet the requirements below.
